4 MEN, 4 WOMEN, 1 SET. "Delicious! Best New Musical!" Newark Star Ledger Candy Shapiro wanted only to win the love of one man, raise his children and become a charitable pillar of the community. But wars intervene. History commands. A beloved uncle turns out to have a dangerous secret life. And Candy, inspired by Queen Esther, grows into a powerful political activist determined to save her community, no matter what the cost. Hilarious and touching, with a tune-ful, sing-able score by Mel Marvin, THE BOOK OF CANDY is the perfect play for the Purim season. It will leave people humming and, yes, even thinking as they leave the theatre.

THE MIAMI DIG
A Comedy in Two Acts about a sloppy old soldier from Lodz and his impeccable American daughter-in-law

3 MEN, 3 WOMEN, 1 SET It is 1976. Misha is living in Miami with his friends ("the chevra"), his Cuban landlord and a mountain of junk. Margaret, his estranged daughter-in-law, suddenly visits, looking for mementoes of his past. She digs and digs and finds -- as you will -- laughter, delight, forgiveness, and even a bit of the truth. Perfect for a theatre where there are older actors. Contact susiesworks@aol.com.

THE OLD MEZZO
A PLAY WITH MUSIC

3 WOMEN, 3 MEN (ONE IS A PIANO PLAYER WITH NO LINES), 1 SET, RUNNING TIME 1 HOUR 10 MINUTES

Alyssa used to be a great opera singer. Now she teaches -- not exactly singing - but rather The Politics of Singing. Her lesson is her story, and her students play characters she has known, so that they will learn the responsibilties of the artist in a dangerous world.

Wildly imaginative, fanciful and hard-hitting, THE OLD MEZZO can be staged with recorded music or with live singers or a combination of both. Perfect for colleges since 5 out of the 6 performers are young people.

The Forgotten Lover
5 WOMEN, 1 MAN, 1 SET Four women are murdered in their sleep. A fifth -- the silliest, most daffy among them -- miraculously survives. All night long she tells the killer stories, just as Sheherazade did in ancient Persia, to keep him from taking her life. By morning, he is as gentle as a little boy again, and Andy is like an old lady, full of irony and hard-won wisdom.

"All I know of love is in this play," says the writer.

THE FARM BILL
A One Act Comic Drama Which Takes Place
in the US Department of Agriculture

2 WOMEN, 1 MAN, 1 SET, 1 HOUR RUNNING TIME Luana unpacks government documents and distributes them to the many agencies of the USDA. Polly is her friend and boss. Hector Canyon is an Under Secretary of Agriculture, looking for a copy of the Farm Bill. Somehow it has disappeared. How can the single most gigantic piece of legislation in the Free World get lost? Hector will soon learn.

An ideal trigger play that will spur heated discussion about the interplay between government policy and plain people's lives. Perfect for colleges, rural and political theatres. SCHOOLS PAY NO ROYALTIES!

THE PERFECT MUSICAL FOR BAR-BAT MITZVAH CLASSES!
SOLOMON'S CHILDREN,

The children learn and sing about King Solomon, his pet lions, the Hoopoo Bird, the Queen of Sheba and other unforgettable characters, to the tunes of Eine Klein Nachtmusik of Mozart. Written to accomodate groups of any size/composition. No sets, costumes, props -- but you can certainly add them if you like.
Said one parent at a New Jersey day school: "This show made the bar-bat mitzvah year tremendous fun and truly meaningful." Contact susiesworks@aol.com.
